Expanding Critical Minerals Processing Capacity in WA

The Australian and Western Australian Governments have announced a joint $3 million investment for a feasibility study to develop a Critical Minerals Advanced Processing (CMAP) facility in Perth.

Led by the Minerals and Resources Institute of WA, the study aims to support small and medium-sized businesses in downstream processing of critical minerals.

This initiative, part of the $10.2 million Critical Minerals National Productivity Initiative, is expected to boost Australia's role in global battery and decarbonization sectors.

Both governments emphasize the importance of expanding onshore processing, creating jobs, and advancing WA's Battery and Critical Minerals Strategy 2024-2030.
